Commitment announcements have become more and more over-the-top in recent years, but one 2019 recruit used his big decision to make a heartfelt gesture.
Tight end prospect Cooper Dawson out of Charleston, South Carolina, included his disabled friend Kingsley Feinman in his announcement Wednesday, the first day of the Early Signing Period. Dawson allowed Feinman to announce his commitment to Syracuse, as you can see in the video below tweeted by Charleston-based TV reporter Scott Eisberg.
This is one of the greatest signing days you will ever see. Hanahan’s Cooper Dawson picks Syracuse- but does it by first telling close friend Kingsley Feinman. Dawson, who tore his ACL during a summer football camp at Clemson, said he drew on Feinman for inspiration as he recovered from the injury that forced him to miss his senior season.
“If he can come around every day with this big ol’ smile on, I can do it just the same,” Dawson said.
The pair shared another special moment after the announcement when Dawson also put a Syracuse hat on Feinman. It was an awesome way to make his college decision, and it appears that the Orange is getting a good person as well as a talented player.
