Dan Mullen’s return to Florida was nine years in the making and Saturday provided him with an end point of sorts.
If just for one minute, he was able to finally enjoy how far he has come. Cameras captured Mullen looking like a kid on Christmas morning as he waited to enter Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.
His eyes grow wide as he leads his team out of the tunnel and he begins to look around. A smile finally emerges on his face about 20 seconds in. He then puts his lips together and holds his players back before finally bursting out on to the field.
It’s easy to relate to for anyone who has waited to accomplish something they’ve wanted for a long time. Mullen got the result he wanted, too, with an easy win over Charleston Southern.
