Alabama made a decision to bench starting quarterback Jalen Hurts for freshman Tua Tagovailoa at halftime of the College Football Playoff National Championship Game vs. Georgia, and it appears to be paying off.
Tagovailoa led the Crimson Tide down the field with precise accuracy in the third quarter for its first touchdown of the game — narrowing the margin to 13-7 at the time.
The freshman QB hit Henry Ruggs III for a beautiful 6-yard strike.
Tagovailoa had 46 yards passing on the drive, while Jalen Hurts had just 21 passing yards in the first half.
