WATCH: Vols DB Garrett Johnson helps out local homeless by giving away shoes

University of Tennessee walk-on defensive back Garrett Johnson is taking his title as a Tennessee Volunteer very seriously.
On Wednesday night, Johnson decided to donate a couple of pairs of shoes to a homeless man he encountered while on his way to grab dinner. A video posted on his personal Twitter page shows Johnson offering two pairs of shoes to the man he identifies only as “Lala,” and helping the man put them on to see if they fit.
“These are comfortable tennis shoes,” Johnson said, “They’re New Balances. Do they feel good?”
“Free?” the man asks.
“Free,” Johnson responds.
It’s great to see college athletes giving back to their communities in their free time, and Johnson sure looks like he knows what it is to embody the Volunteer spirit.
Johnson is listed as a junior DB from Germantown, TN on Tennessee’s official roster.
