Everybody loves a good scholarship video. We’ve seen a lot of them throughout the offseason and into the regular season from teams all over college football.

It’s not often the walk-on receiving the scholarship is the nephew of a different team’s head coach, but that is what happened on Thursday when senior tight end/linebacker Robert Muschamp received a scholarship from Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn.

Robert is South Carolina head coach Will Muschamp’s nephew. Muschamp was Auburn’s defensive coordinator in 2015 when Robert walked on as a freshman. Muschamp was the defensive coordinator at Auburn from 2006-07, and he returned for a second stint in 2015. He was hired as South Carolina’s head coach in 2016, but his nephew stayed on the Plains.

The young Muschamp has not seen any game action at tight end in his Auburn career, but did enter a game at fullback during the 2016 season.

This is not the first scholarship video we have seen from Auburn, as they rewarded walk-on quarterback Devin Adams before the start of the season.
