As we move through the 2015 football season, we’ll be giving a run-down of each SEC team’s penalty statistics at the conclusion of each week’s games.

Being Week 1, it’s hard to correlate penalty data with whether or not it affects a team’s ability to win. However, it did seem like the least penalized teams were able to put up the most points. Florida, with only one penalty against New Mexico State and the least in the SEC, scored 61. Ole Miss, who had the second least, scored the most of any SEC team this week with 76 points.

Only three teams had more than six penalties during this first week of game play, and only Alabama had penalties in the double digits. Seven out of the 14 teams were able to keep penalty yardage under 50.
