I’ll talk to a few NFL scouts throughout the season to get their take on SEC players that are helping or hurting their prospects at the next level. I’ll pass along some of those thoughts to you here.
Here are some of the SEC players that have scouts talking this week.
STOCK RISING
- Benardrick McKinney, LB, Mississippi State: He has great size at 6-foot-5. He’s got the speed and toughness of an NFL linebacker. He could be a star in the NFL.
- Landon Collins, S, Alabama: He can play in space and cover, but he’ll also come up and whack you.
- Matt Jones, RB, Florida: He’s a power back that can break tackles and he’s also tough as nails. He doesn’t go down easy and fights for extra yards. He’s a prototypical NFL power back with good hands.
STOCK FALLING
- Duke Williams, WR, Auburn: His knee injury hurts big time. Hopefully he recovers quickly and gets healthy soon.
- A.J. Johnson, LB, Tennessee: He’s very productive at the college level, but scouts don’t see it translating into the NFL because his lack of speed and he doesn’t bend very well. He must improve in those areas.
