This weekend was full of top-notch, next-level throws by the quarterbacks around the SEC. Man, there were several plays to choose from this weekend, but one throw is standing out in my mind right now.
Dylan Thompson of South Carolina had another very good outing as he was 20-of-32 for 347 yards and 2 TDs against the Volunteers. One throw in particular really was deserving of the “seed of the week.”
Backed up at its own 15-yard line early in the fourth quarter, South Carolina faced a third-and-11. That’s a predicament, especially when you need to score just about every possession.
As Thompson dropped back, he looked off the safety and hit Pharoh Cooper right down the seam. We called that play “B trips right wahoo steamer Z,” and as soon as Dylan saw the safety run toward the tight end, it was all over.
He threw a seed and hit Cooper right in stride as the receiver raced into the end zone to stretch the Gamecocks’ lead back to 14 points.
While there are multiple deserving throws, I have to give the “seed” award to Dylan this week.
