Last week, we spent most of our time criticizing Gary Danielson’s comments at the end of the Auburn/Louisville game.
This week, we’re going to give Gary a break and spread the love around a little.
Let’s see what bothered fans during the SEC’s Week 2 broadcasts:
Verne being Verne
At one point in Saturday’s Georgia vs. Vanderbilt telecast, everyone’s favorite CBS play-by-play man called a play as though Nick Chubb was out of bounds, when in reality he had been tackled well short of the sideline.
It bothered quite a few Georgia fans:
Verne Lundquist needs to explain to me how chubb went out of bounds when he was a few feet outside the hash. Please cbs fire him now.

But, in my opinion, Verne should consider his first weekend in Nashville to call a Vanderbilt game a win:

And, if you didn’t hear, he returned to the Dallas Cowboys radio airwaves, where he made his name some 30-plus years ago, to call former Tennessee TE Jason Witten’s game-winning catch against the New York Giants on Sunday night:
Verne Lundquist Calls Cowboys Final Drive
Not a bad weekend, Verne.
Tennessee vs. Oklahoma
Brad Nessler, Todd Blackledge and Holly Rowe had the call on ESPN on Saturday night.
We’ll start with Rowe, who bless her for this assignment, was trying to give a PG version of Oklahoma LB Eric Striker’s pre-game trash talk about the SEC.
While this is more humorous than critical, “Blowing you know what up their you know what” wasn’t exactly a direct quote.
It’s OK to say “gas” on the air, Holly.
CBS college football reporter Jon Solomon got in on the broadcaster criticizing “fun” this week, questioning Brad Nessler’s strategy musings during the Oklahoma-Tennessee game:
Not sure why Brad Nessler wondered if Stoops would go for 2. He coaches Oklahoma, not Jacksonville State.

Speaking of Nessler, he apparently misspoke about who holds the record for rushing yards in a single game, which angered many Oklahoma fans, like this guy:

Alabama fans don’t like Andre Ware
Former Heisman Trophy winner Andre Ware makes his home on SEC Network telecasts these days, and it sounds as though Alabama fans had enough of him during the Saturday’s game against Middle Tennessee.
