Last week, we spent most of our time criticizing Gary Danielson’s comments at the end of the Auburn/Louisville game.
This week, we’re going to give Gary a break and spread the love around a little.
Let’s see what bothered fans during the SEC’s Week 2 broadcasts:
Verne being Verne
At one point in Saturday’s Georgia vs. Vanderbilt telecast, everyone’s favorite CBS play-by-play man called a play as though Nick Chubb was out of bounds, when in reality he had been tackled well short of the sideline.
It bothered quite a few Georgia fans:
Verne Lundquist needs to explain to me how chubb went out of bounds when he was a few feet outside the hash. Please cbs fire him now.

VERNE LUNDQUIST IS A DUMBASS
— Griffin Collins (@thegriff_ball) September 12, 2015
I hate listening to Verne Lundquist
— JB Libretto (@AskJeebzz) September 12, 2015
But, in my opinion, Verne should consider his first weekend in Nashville to call a Vanderbilt game a win:
So far in Georgia-Vandy Verne Lundquist has said “keister,” “DOINK!” and won a $10 bet on the air. He is a national treasure.
— Bobby Mullen (@bmull74) September 12, 2015
@VerneLundquist_ that moment Uncle Verne tells Gary that he will “take his Benjamins” on a $10 bet. #stop

Picturing Verne Lundquist out on the town with Whisperin’ Bill Anderson in #Nashville is the highlight of this game so far.#UGAvsVandy

And, if you didn’t hear, he returned to the Dallas Cowboys radio airwaves, where he made his name some 30-plus years ago, to call former Tennessee TE Jason Witten’s game-winning catch against the New York Giants on Sunday night:
Verne Lundquist Calls Cowboys Final Drive
Not a bad weekend, Verne.
Tennessee vs. Oklahoma
Brad Nessler, Todd Blackledge and Holly Rowe had the call on ESPN on Saturday night.
We’ll start with Rowe, who bless her for this assignment, was trying to give a PG version of Oklahoma LB Eric Striker’s pre-game trash talk about the SEC.
While this is more humorous than critical, “Blowing you know what up their you know what” wasn’t exactly a direct quote.
It’s OK to say “gas” on the air, Holly.
CBS college football reporter Jon Solomon got in on the broadcaster criticizing “fun” this week, questioning Brad Nessler’s strategy musings during the Oklahoma-Tennessee game:
Not sure why Brad Nessler wondered if Stoops would go for 2. He coaches Oklahoma, not Jacksonville State.
— Jon Solomon (@JonSolomonCBS) September 13, 2015
Speaking of Nessler, he apparently misspoke about who holds the record for rushing yards in a single game, which angered many Oklahoma fans, like this guy:
Hey Brad Nessler, Samajie Perine is the single game NCAA rushing record holder in College Football…he broke Melvin Gordon’ s record!!!

Alabama fans don’t like Andre Ware
Former Heisman Trophy winner Andre Ware makes his home on SEC Network telecasts these days, and it sounds as though Alabama fans had enough of him during the Saturday’s game against Middle Tennessee.
Andre Ware you are the #Bama place kicking of announcing. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Annnnnd wrong. #SEC #RollTide
— HogT1de™ (@HogT1de) September 12, 2015
@SECNetwork andre ware and company are fools. Henry hasnt gotten on track in this one? You guys are fools. he has 3 tds
— Scott McCollum® (@scott_mccollum) September 12, 2015
Of course, anytime you get the name of a team’s quarterback wrong you’re going to draw the ire of its fans.
Andre Ware just said Conner Bateman….Is he the new Vern???😂😂😂😂😂

Musburger tweets
Brent Musburger and Jesse Palmer had the call on the Kentucky/South Carolina game, and Brent always brings some funny Tweets from viewers:
“South Carolina may or may not have gotten it.” Thanks Brent Musburger.
— Lauren Cash (@LaurenWYMT) September 13, 2015
Brent Musburger just said “Carolina, under Spurrier, passes 55% of the time and runs 54% of the time.” Scratching my head on that math…
— Gerald Brown (@coachgevbrown) September 13, 2015
I’d like to punch Brent Musburger right in the mouth
— Cliff Cornett (@chcornwildcats) September 13, 2015
Brent Musburger keeps trying to call Jeff Badet one of those fancy toilets.
