Former Georgia star A.J. Green left the Cincinnati Bengals home opener with a toe injury and did not return on Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons. Green told ESPN’s Bob Holtzman after Sunday’s 24-10 win that his toe is not broken and that he hopes to return this week. He has six catches for 131 yards and a touchdown so far this season.
Here are some updates on former Bulldogs who made an impact around the NFL in Week 2:
- Dannell Ellerbe: Ellerbe, who recorded 101 tackles last season, suffered a hip injury in the Miami Dolphins season opener with a hip injury that required surgery. He’ll miss the rest of the season.
- Charles Johnson: Johnson has gotten off to a slow start in 2014, registering just two total tackles.
- Gene Atkins: Atkins has dealt with some nagging injuries through the first couple weeks of the season, but has registered two total tackles in the first two Bengals wins.
- Champ Bailey: Bailey, a league veteran, is currently a free agent. He just worked out for the Detroit Lions.
- Knowshon Moreno: Moreno injured his elbow in yesterday’s Dolphins loss against the Bills. It’s been reported that he suffered a dislocated elbow and will miss four weeks.
- Matthew Stafford: After a big season debut Monday night against the Giants, Stafford struggled Sunday against Carolina throwing just one touchdown.
- Brandon Boykin: Boykin’s gotten off to a good start for the Philadelphia Eagles registering five tackles in the opener against Jacksonville last week. The Eagles play the Colts tonight on Monday Night Football.
