Using ESPN’s FPI (Football Power Index) as a guide, LSU has a 60.6 percent chance to beat Mississippi State at home on Saturday.

LSU has one of the stoutest defenses in the country, and fans will find out Saturday just how good that unit is when the Tigers take on a dangerous Mississippi State team.

The Tigers will have their hands full going against a tough Bulldogs defense and a versatile offense. Mississippi State has been tough against the run, the Tigers’ bread and butter, but are vulnerable through the air. LSU’s offense line will have to be stronger than they have been in their last few games, as Mississippi State has one of the best defensive lines in the league through three games.

Dak Prescott presents a dual-threat at quarterback that the LSU defense hasn’t seen yet. He and junior running back Josh Robinson will need to be held in check for the Tigers to thrive.

Despite being a top-10 team, LSU isn’t as heavily favored playing against an unranked opponent as home as you’d think. Going against an SEC West foe that deserves strong consideration for the top 25 will do that to the odds. LSU will need to bring its A-game to get out of Tiger Stadium unscathed.
