The SEC deserves some praise after looking at the penalty numbers following Week 5 play. Whereas in previous weeks there was always at least one team that drew penalties left and right, every team in the conference stayed below eight this week.
No clear trend emerged among number of penalties and winning games. Especially among conference games, both teams tended to stay within one to two penalties of each other.
After Saturday, LSU now holds the most penalties on the season by one. The Tigers are tied with the Razorbacks for most penalty yardage.
