Using ESPN’s FPI (Football Power Index) as a guide, Auburn has a 98.1 percent chance to beat Louisiana Tech on Saturday.

Auburn needs to correct mistakes before road gets bumpy

Widely considered to have the toughest schedule in all of college football, the Auburn Tigers have one more shot to correct its miscues before a stretch of seven ranked opponents (possibly eight if Arkansas beats Texas A&M Saturday) in its final nine games.

Coming off a game in which it had the worst offensive output of the Gus Malzahn era, Kansas State showed the Tigers can be beaten. The Wildcats just couldn’t capitalize on a plethora of mistakes in a game Auburn all but gift-wrapped for them.

Louisiana Tech now arrives on the Plains with a defensive coordinator in Manny Diaz who knows how to scheme for this offensive attack from his stint at Mississippi State in 2010. His Bulldog defense held Cam Newton and the Auburn offense to its lowest scoring output during the Tigers’ 2010 run to a national title.

Malzahn has said his team answered the bell this week in the wake of the ugly win over K-State. Good news to the ears of Tiger fans.
