Using ESPN’s FPI (Football Power Index) as a guide, Auburn has a 69.0 percent chance to beat LSU on Saturday.

Auburn faces thorn in its side

The Mad Hatter has had Auburn’s number, winning six of the last seven over its SEC West foe. It’s a different story this season for LSU, however, as it travels to Auburn with a freshman quarterback making his first start and a lot of NFL draft picks departed on the front seven defensively.

The Auburn offense looks to get going this week against that Bayou Bengal defense that has had trouble stopping the run. LSU allowed 6.2 yards per carry to Dak Prescott and Josh Robinson in the loss to Mississippi State and allowed 6.9 yards per carry to Melvin Gordon in the season-opening win over Wisconsin. Auburn has had some issues in run blocking this season and looks to get Nick Marshall and Cameron Artis-Payne revved up for the meat of its schedule.

LSU signal caller Brandon Harris provides a test for the Tigers’ secondary, as does heralded freshman tailback Leonard Fournette. Auburn will need its best effort yet this season if it hopes to get to 5-0.
