Not only is this an important weekend for several SEC teams, it is also a big step to the next level for several conference seniors.

Phil Savage, executive director of the Reese’s Senior Bowl and his scouts will be at a pair of Southeastern Conference games looking for players to participate in the all-star game.

“We will be represented at the LSU-Florida game and Vadal Alexander will be the headliner for LSU,” Savage said. “For Florida, it’ll be Antonio Morrison the linebacker. There is also Brian Poole who is a corner/safety and Jonathan Bullard the defensive lineman.”

Savage, who is a member of the Alabama Radio Network broadcast team will be in College Station to see the Tide take on Texas A&M.

“For A&M, I’ll be checking out Mike Matthews the center,” Savage said.

Matthews is looking to join the family business as his father, uncle and brother all have had the experience of playing in the NFL.

Another player that will be evaluated is running back Tra Carson who is averaging 4.5 yards per carry.

“Defensively, Alonzo Williams is a defensive tackle who is a senior this year,” Savage said. “And DeVante Harris is a corner who is a senior.”

Harris has 13 tackles this year, 10 of them solo stops and picked off one pass and returned it 40 yards. Williams also has 13 total tackles, 3.5 of them for loss of yardage.

But the most intriguing player for Savage is a special teams performer.

“Drew Kaser the punter is averaging 51 yards per punt,” Savage said. “So he is somebody I will definitely be checking out this week.”

Outside the conference, the Senior Bowl staff has been and will continue to be busy. Last week, scouts were at the Florida State-Miami game and this week, they will be attending the South Alabama-Arkansas State game Wednesday in Mobile and Thursday, Savage will be in Hammond, La., for Tulane-Southeastern Louisiana.
