Week 7 Upset Alert: Tough week continues for South Carolina

Vegas says Vanderbilt is a slight underdog on Saturday at South Carolina.
The Commodores also are in the perfect position to make us look good for the second consecutive week as an upset alert pick.
Vanderbilt (2-3, 0-2 SEC) at South Carolina (2-4, 0-4 SEC), 4 p.m. ET, SEC Network: South Carolina is in disarray. How could it not be? Just about everything that could go wrong — off the field and on — the past two weeks, has. Hurricane Joaquin forced the team to evacuate its city and move a home game to LSU.
Then, after losing that game, the Gamecocks lost their head coach. More than that, they lost the Head Ball Coach, who resigned, in part, because this team isn’t built to win this season. Their quarterback situation/play continues to be an issue and there’s no Marcus Lattimore to hand off to.
Maybe South Carolina rallies around interim head coach Shawn Elliott. Teams facing turmoil certainly have closed ranks, adopted the “We All We Got, We All We Need” mantra and outperformed their record and circumstances. That could happen again Saturday afternoon at Williams-Brice.
But there’s no denying this is Vandy’s best opportunity to end its 10-game SEC losing streak.
