After another week of SEC football, it’s time to look at penalties.
No penalty trend among winning or losing teams emerged, but when looked at by game the stats get interesting.
Texas A&M went from the least penalized team last week, when they only incurred one penalty for a paltry five yards, to the most penalized team this week. But Ole Miss wins when it comes to penalty yardage, racking up 108. As a whole, Texas A&M-Ole Miss was a heavily penalized game and both teams went into the double digits.
Ironically, one of the longest games in the nation this Saturday (Duke-Virginia Tech also went into four overtimes, so it’s not the longest) was the least penalized game in the SEC. After playing almost four hours, Arkansas and Auburn walked away from their matchup with a combined penalty count of only five.
Alabama moves into its second week of being the most penalized team in the SEC, but Ole Miss and LSU are close on the Crimson Tide’s heels. Ole Miss, however, has the most penalty yardage on the season and is the only SEC team to break 500 so far.
Auburn remains the least penalized team in the conference.
