Tennessee is coming off of a demoralizing 47-21 loss to Florida at home on Saturday night. Unfortunately, their schedule doesn’t get any easier, as they travel to Athens to play the No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs this week.
While his appearance was brief, Jeremy Pruitt joined the SEC Coaches Teleconference on Wednesday to discuss his upcoming opponent.
Here’s what he said:
On Arkansas struggling on Special Teams, what is the value of having a SPT coordinator:
- Well, you have someone that that his specialty. He owns it… I think it’s hard for anyone to have all of special teams, it takes a staff… It takes pressure off the head coach to have (SPT coordinator), I know that.
Is Tennessee’s program about where you thought it would be when you took it?
- In the last 10 months, our kids have worked hard to do what we’ve asked them to do… I’m excited about that… In this job, we are judged by wins and losses and we are 2 and 2… When you look back at where we were, we are much better off.
Sapp situation on the Florida game, how did that go over in the locker room?
- We are handling that internally, I addressed that after the game and we are moving on.
When you were at Alabama and you had all those non-offensive TDs, how demoralizing for the opponent?
- Well, I don’t know about the opponent but I know what it feels like when you do it… It gives the team a boost, it gives the offense a boost but you can’t plan for those going into a game.
On UGA doing that this year:
- Well, you have to take care of the football — which we didn’t last week. I don’t think it matters who you are playing, you have to approach it that way.
