Alabama took care of business in its Week 1 win over Middle Tennessee Saturday night, routing the Blue Raiders 56-7 as Jalen Milroe impressed in his starter debut.

The Tide had an impressive outing in their first game of the year, but now they have a new challenge at hand as they take on Texas next week.

Head coach Nick Saban praised his team, but of course found things that need to be fixed before the big matchup next week.

“I think the guys (did) what we wanted to try to do,” Saban said on SEC Network after the game. “I thought we played spotty in a couple spots. So we need to clean that up, and obviously we’re going to play tougher and tougher competition as we go. We’ve got a couple banged up tonight, so that might be a problem for us, but I really liked the attitude of the team, I liked the way they came out, I liked the energy they played with. Great atmosphere for the first game and appreciate the fans as well.”

Saban was impressed with his starting quarterback Milroe, who had 3 passing touchdowns and 2 rushing touchdowns on the night, but he believes the sophomore still has some learning and improving to do as the season goes on.

“No it was good, he’s been playing good, prepared well for the game and I thought he did a nice job out there,” Saban said. “I’m sure he’ll learn a couple other things that will help him improve, we’ve all got plays we can improve on, but I thought he did a really good job.”
