Sam Pittman’s Arkansas Razorbacks came out sluggish against the Kent State Golden Flashes. The score was just 14-6 at the half in Arkansas’ favor. The Razorbacks wound up winning 28-6, but it was far from a perfect performance in Fayetteville.
After the game, Pittman lamented the fact that early in the game, the Razorbacks “couldn’t catch it” and “couldn’t run it,” while acknowledging that the defense kept the team in the game.
“Earlier, we couldn’t catch it, we couldn’t run it, we couldn’t. The defense kept us in the game.”

Pittman was also complimentary of Kent State, who held the Razorbacks to just 136 passing yards.
“I want to give Kent State a lot of credit, for them to do what they did last week and come back and play that well, lots of credit to them.”

The coach was referring to Kent State’s lopsided Week 1 defeat to UCF, when the team lost 56-6.
Pittman elaborated on why starting corner Dwight McGlothern played just one snap against the Golden Flashes, saying McGlothern was dealing with turf toe and “couldn’t move the way we wanted him to.”

McGlothern certainly could’ve helped on Saturday, as the Razorbacks were actually outgained through the air.
Arkansas’ defense was able to do enough to stifle Kent State, and the Razorbacks walk away 2-0. The team will next welcome the BYU Cougars to town in Week 3.
