Phil Steele is highly regarded as one of the brightest media minds in college football. Since 1995, college football fans have been enamored by his informative analysis.
Entering Week 4 of the SEC schedule, Steele unveiled this season’s first edition of his Vegas Power Ratings, a former weekly feature of his at ESPN.com.
“I still have all the sources that I used to produce that article as it featured my plus/minus ratings which closely resemble Vegas’s numbers as well as three different casinos including the fine folks over at the Westgate Las Vegas Sportsbook,” Steele shares in Friday’s article.
Steele has 7 SEC teams in his top 25: No. 2 Alabama, No. 4 Georgia, No. 6 Florida, No. 15 Texas A&M, No. 20 LSU, No. 21 Tennessee, and No. 22 Auburn.
The remaining SEC teams are: No. 27 Kentucky, No. 35 Ole Miss, No. 38 South Carolina, N0. 42 Mississippi State, No. 61 Missouri, No. 63 Arkansas and No. 108 Vanderbilt.
- No. 2 Alabama

With 10 of its 14 teams in the top 40, the SEC is clearly regarded by Steele as the most dominant in college football.
The most interesting factor in next week’s rankings will be to see what Steele does with the loser of Alabama vs. Georgia. The winner will likely rise to No. 1 but it’ll be curious to find out the slide of the loser.
