Will Campbell draft stock: NFL analyst identifies perfect landing spot
The 2025 NFL Draft is just over a couple of weeks away, which means former LSU star Will Campbell is close to finalizing his new home.
Campbell could be a top-5 pick in this class, but PFF NFL Draft analyst Trevor Sikkema likes a particular fit with a team a bit further down the board: The San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers have the No. 11 pick in the draft, but Sikkema sees Campbell as an ideal fit in Kyle Shanahan’s offense.
“I love Will Campbell for the San Francisco 49ers,” Sikkema said. “You could put Will Campbell in at left guard immediately. He could play next to Trent Williams for you and then for however much longer Trent Williams plays, and then Will Campbell might be able to take over at left tackle once Trent Williams is done.
“Campbell, most importantly, has the athleticism, which we saw at the combine, to be able to play in Shanahan’s versatile run scheme, but mainly one that will ask you to play and block mid-and-outside zone. I think this is a scheme fit. This is a short-term fit and this is a long-term fit.”

There have been numerous LSU first-round draft picks in recent years, but not many on the offensive line. The last Tigers’ OL to go on Day 1 was Alan Faneca way back in 1988. Campbell is a virtual lock to break that drought — the only question is how high will he go?
Per the latest odds from BetMGM, Campbell is -150 to go in the top-5. That would seem to indicate that San Francisco would likely need to trade up from its spot at No. 11 in order to land the talented lineman.
The first round of the 2025 NFL Draft is set for April 24 in Green Bay.
