Will Muschamp announces senior defender suffers knee injury, will miss remainder of season

October 17 was a historic day for the South Carolina Gamecocks.
Upsetting then-No. 13 Auburn, 30-22, the program earned their first victory over the Tigers since December 2, 1933.
On Sunday, head coach Will Muschamp shared some unfortunate news, telling reporters redshirt senior linebacker Spencer Eason-Riddle will be sidelined for the remainder of the season after suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL).

As the tweet from The Post and Courier’s David Cloninger says, Eason-Riddle tore the ACL in his other knee late in the 2019 campaign, resulting in him being unavailable during spring practice.
Graduating from Leesville Road High School in Raleigh, North Carolina in 2015, Eason-Riddle joined South Carolina’s program as a walk-on in January 2016.
After not seeing game action in his first two years on-campus, he appeared in all 13 games in 2018, primarily on special teams, and recorded four tackles (one for loss).
Awarded with a scholarship prior to the 2019 season, he played in the Gamecocks’ first 11 games before sustaining his injury in the loss to the Texas A&M Aggies in College Station, recording a career-high six tackles.
Through the first four games in 2020, Eason-Riddle posted two tackles.
South Carolina will hit the road on Saturday to battle the LSU Tigers at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN.
