What Will Muschamp said following South Carolina’s tough loss at Texas A&M
South Carolina came up short Saturday night, losing to Texas A&M 24-17 at Kyle Field.
The Aggies were able to attack the Gamecocks better in the second half on offense and defense. It was too much for the visiting team, despite having a lead heading into the fourth quarter. The Gamecocks move to 3-2 overall with the loss, including a 1-2 mark in the SEC.
South Carolina has not been mathematically eliminated from winning the SEC East. Though with two conference losses, the road ahead will be tough. After the shortcoming, coach Will Muschamp met with members of the media to discuss his team.
Here is what he had to say during the presser:
Do you have to sit down with Kurt Roper about the offense? Will Muschamp: We have got to find a way to get more production.

Asked why USC wanted to run up 10, Muschamp talked RPOs and check-downs. Jake Bentley confirmed. Bentley: It’s on all of us. No one person, no one coach is to blame. Just got to do a better job.

Muschamp said Terry Googer is back with the team and in the locker room. #Gamecocks

Muschamp: QB legs hurt us, have to find ways to run football, can’t be one-dimensional, reoccurring issues and not finishing drives
— SportsTalk (@sportstalksc) October 1, 2017
Muschamp: Give Mond credit he made plays, took advantage of man coverage, also had some designed runs
— SportsTalk (@sportstalksc) October 1, 2017
Muschamp: Malik Young has an ankle injury, will know more next week. Terry Googer is fine, hospital visit was precautionary
— SportsTalk (@sportstalksc) October 1, 2017
Muschamp: We have to look at the offense, can’t win scoring 17 points. We’ve moved the ball at times, need to be more productive.
— SportsTalk (@sportstalksc) October 1, 2017
Muschamp: went back and looked at 3rd Down offense, saw protection issues, need to go back and evaluate again
— SportsTalk (@sportstalksc) October 1, 2017
Muschamp: can’t make excuses, we need to protect Jake better.
