Xavier Worthy’s attorneys have released a statement after the Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver and former Texas standout was arrested on Friday night.

“We are aware of the allegation that led to Mr. Worthy’s arrest,” Worthy’s attorneys, Chip Lewis and Sam Bassett, said. “We are working with law enforcement in Williamson County to ensure they have the benefit of the totality of circumstances that led to this allegation.

“The complainant was recently asked to vacate Mr. Worthy’s residence upon discovery of her infidelity. She has refused to do so and made a number of extortive efforts prior to resorting to this baseless allegation against Mr. Worthy.

“We will continue to cooperate with the Williamson County authorities as we have full faith that their thorough investigation will support Mr. Worthy’s innocence.”

Worthy’s attorneys went on to tell the Houston Chronicle’s Kirk Bohls that there is photographic evidence that supports Worthy. They claim the complainant was asked multiple times to vacate the residence and that the complainant “destroyed” a room, scratched Worthy’s face, and “ripped out” some of his hair.

According to FOX 26’s Will Kunkel, Worthy was arrested and charged with assault against a family or household member by impeding their breathing or circulation. In Texas, the charge is a third-degree felony and can carry a prison sentence of 2 to 10 years with a fine of up to $10,000.

Worthy, the No. 28 overall pick out of Texas in 2024, totaled 638 yards and 6 touchdowns for the Chiefs in the regular season. He made 8 catches for 157 yards and 2 touchdowns in Super Bowl LIX.
