During the fourth quarter of LSU’s 36-33 comeback victory over South Carolina on Saturday, Tiger defensive back Major Burns recovered a fumble deep in Gamecock territory while facing a 33-29 deficit.
Burns immediately ran over to the end zone to celebrate with some LSU fans and also talk to some of the South Carolina faithful in attendance.
As can be seen in the video, two young fans were in the front row and gave Burns ‘thumbs down’ as he was looking to the crowd. Then, as the Tiger DB began to back away, the young male fan flipped him a bird to ensure that Burns understood his opinion of him.

Burns proceeded to spin the ball in the end zone and jog away, with this whole situation serving as another reminder that it does, in fact, just mean more in the SEC.
Ironically, LSU’s Garrett Nussmeier would go on to throw an interception on the ensuing series, meaning that the fumble turned out to be of little consequence to the Gamecocks.
And who knows, maybe that young fan flipped Nussmeier the finger after he tossed that pick to SC’s Nick Emmanwori. After all, as the only SEC team with a true avian mascot (Auburn’s War Eagle is a complementary mascot), the Gamecocks probably have more of a right than anybody to utilize the bird.
