Garrett Crochet, former Tennessee star, signs record-breaking contract with Red Sox
Garrett Crochet has agreed to a historic contract extension with the Boston Red Sox, according to a report.

Per Passan, it’s the largest contract ever for a pitcher with 4+ years of service time:

According to Spotrac, only 7 pitchers are set to earn more money than Crochet in 2026. However, all 7 are on short-term deals
Crochet began his professional career with the Chicago White Sox but he was a reliever until the 2024 campaign. He burst onto the scene as a dominant starting pitcher last season, registering a 3.58 ERA in 146 innings of work. Crochet also struck out an impressive 12.9 batters per 9 innings.
Crochet was also largely a reliever at Tennessee. He made 36 appearances for Tennessee, but only 13 came as a starter from 2018-2020. He posted a 4.64 ERA across 132 collegiate innings.
The former Vol was traded to Boston this offseason and is expected to serve as the franchise’s ace for the foreseeable future. He pitched on Opening Day for Boston this year, tossing 5 innings of 2-run ball.
