LeBron James is taking some heat for his late decision.
Sunday night’s NBA All-Star Game wraps up the weekend’s festivities. James is out in the San Francisco Bay Area for All-Star Weekend, but made a late decision to not suit up in the game, citing ankle soreness.
While James brings star power to the game, media criticism focused on the timing of James’ decision. Had he announced he was skipping the All-Star Game earlier, someone else could have taken his spot.

James, who turned 40 on Dec. 30, has been playing professionally since 2003 and with the Las Angeles Lakers since 2018. James is a 21-time NBA All-Star. He was named NBA All-Star Game MVP in 2006, 2008 and 2018.
On social media, there were suggestions that Norm Powell could have filled in for James if he had made his decision earlier.
