My Picks For Celtics-Pacers Game 1
Jayson Tatum, Boston Celtics: Higher than 0.5 points
This is a no-brainer, folks. Even though Tatum hasn’t been scoring at an elite level this postseason, he’s still put up at least 1 point in every single game. This series between the Celtics and Pacers should be a fast-paced, high-scoring one, so look for Tatum to get his 1+ points before too much time has come off the clock in the first quarter. The Pacers simply don’t play enough defense to stop Tatum and the Celtics’ other offensive weapons.
Sam Hauser, Boston Celtics: Higher than 1.5 3-pointers made
After a strong showing in the Miami series, Hauser saw his role reduced in the Cleveland series. He only attempted 9 3-pointers in 5 games, making 3 of them. But Cleveland may have just been a bad matchup for Hauser. The Pacers series promises to be played at a faster pace, which benefits Hauser. I expect him to get 4-5 looks from long range in Game 1 tonight. If he takes that many 3s, he’s almost a lock to knock down at least 2 of them.
TJ McConnell, Indiana Pacers: Higher than 17.5 points+rebounds+assists
As the Knicks-Pacers series got tight, McConnell got even better. He was one of the few Pacers players who didn’t look fazed by the big moments. He posted 21 points+rebounds+assists in Games 6 and 7. In a Game 4 Pacers win, he posted 29 PRA. He’s about as valuable of a backup point guard as you’ll find in the NBA. Watching him and Payton Pritchard of the Celtics go head-to-head with the second units will be very entertaining. I expect McConnell to continue his strong play on Tuesday night with 18+ PRA.
