The Miami Dolphins put together an offensive performance for the ages against the Denver Broncos on Sunday.

The final score: Miami 70, Denver 20. Yes, you read that right. It was the most points scored by an NFL team since 1966, when Washington scored 72 against the New York Giants.

Miami actually had a shot at the record with the ball at Denver’s 27 with just over 30 seconds remaining. But Dolphins backup QB Mike White — in the game to relieve Tua Tagovailoa with the outcome well in hand — took a knee on 4th down to give the ball to the Broncos on downs.

Miami held a 35-13 lead at halftime. But it wasn’t close to done, hanging 14 in the 3rd before a 21-point 4th quarter. The 4th quarter included a 67-yard touchdown run by former Texas A&M standout De’Von Achane, the 2nd of his 2 touchdowns on the afternoon and part of an 18-carry, 203-yard day for the rookie.

Not to be outdone, Raheem Mostert delivered a sensational performance of his own, accounting for 142 scrimmage yards and 4 touchdowns. He had 82 yards and 3 touchdowns on the ground and 7 catches for 60 yards and a score through the air.

Amazingly, Tagovailoa had 309 yards passing on the afternoon, relatively considering the score. That said, he missed on just 3 of his 26 passing attempts and was 16-of-16 in the 1st half. Meanwhile, Miami’s running backs put on a show as the Denver defense yielded 352 yards on 41 attempts.

The Dolphins are 3-0 on the season. Mike McDaniel’s team has sent a clear message that they could be a force to be reckoned with in 2023.
