Alabama owns the record for the longest streak of first-round picks in the NFL Draft. It did not take long for the streak to be extended on Thursday night in Green Bay.

Tyler Booker was the first Alabama player to hear his name called in the 2025 NFL Draft. Booker went No. 12 overall to the Dallas Cowboys, making it 17 years in a row that Alabama has had a first-round draft pick.

UA’s streak of 17 years is the longest active streak and the longest streak in NFL Draft history. As it worked out, Alabama’s streak began in 2009, the year that previous record-holder, Miami, had its streak snapped at 14 years (1995-2008).

The streak is a reminder of Alabama’s dominance under Nick Saban. The streak started in 2009, 2 seasons into Saban’s tenure.

Andre Smith got things started in the 2009 NFL Draft. Smith signed to play for Mike Shula, but was developed by the Saban staff in 2007 and ’08.

Starting with the 2010 NFL Draft, Saban’s recruits took over. Rolando McClain and Kareem Jackson were first-round picks in 2010.

Booker was also a Saban recruit in the Class of 2022. Booker finished his career playing for Kalen DeBoer, and Alabama fans will hope to see DeBoer’s recruits keep the streak alive.
