Bad news if you’re an Atlanta Falcons fan or a lucky fantasy manager who hit the waiver wire at the right time: Cordarrelle Patterson might be on the shelf for a bit.
NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported Monday that Patterson, the Falcon’s dynamic running back, is having a sprained ankle evaluated.
#Falcons RB Cordarrelle Patterson is still having his sprained ankle evaluated, but it doesn’t sound optimistic for Thursday night against the #Patriots, per source. Could be a couple weeks for one of this season’s most electric players.

Though he was never ruled out of Sunday’s 43-3 loss to the Dallas Cowboys, Patterson played a smaller role than usual in the game. According to Falcons’ team reporter Scott Bair, Patterson was listed as a limited participant on Monday’s estimated practice report.
Patterson has been a huge bright spot on the Falcons’ offense this season. In 9 games, he has 39 receptions for 473 yards and 5 touchdowns and 77 rushing attempts for 303 yards and 2 ground scores. The former Tennessee Volunteer and 4-time Pro Bowler signed with Atlanta this offseason after spending the previous 2 years with the Chicago Bears.
Atlanta (4-5) hosts the New England Patriots (6-4) on Thursday night.
Derek Peterson does a bit of everything, not unlike Taysom Hill. He has covered Oklahoma, Nebraska, the Pac-12, and now delivers CFB-wide content.
