Chris Doering covers college football for the SEC Network, and has seen Jalen Milroe play a ton of football during that time. The former Alabama quarterback is one of the most hotly debated players in the entire NFL Draft.

Some people are concerned that he can’t make all of the intermediate and tough 3rd down throws to be a starter. However, many think he has a chance to become a big time player, comparing his athleticism to that of Lamar Jackson.

While many analysts and pundits aren’t sure where Milroe should go, Doering is extremely confident and thinks he should be go in the first round.

“If you can take Anthony Richardson in the top 5, why can’t Jalen Milroe be a first-round pick?” Doering said to Alyssa Lang on SEC This Morning. “The ability to impact a game, I saw it much more from Jalen Milroe against big-time competition in the SEC. It’s not like he did this against some Sun Belt competition. The experience he has as a 2-year starter there. I think there is a lot of what he does that translates very well.”

Like other analysts, Doering said Milroe is the most intriguing prospect in this draft class. The arm strength of Milroe isn’t a concern, as he showed during his time at Alabama that he can throw the ball deep down the field. Combine that with some of the best athleticism we have seen from a quarterback prospect, and there is a lot to like with him.

With the draft only a day away, teams are having those final conversations to decide on what player they will take. The quarterback position has a lot of intriguing players, and it will be very interesting to see which team makes a move at the position.
