Since former New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton was cut earlier this week by the Patriots, there has been lots of speculation as to where the former Auburn quarterback may land. Several teams were reportedly interested in Newton, but he has yet to sign with anyone.

FOX Sports commentator Colin Cowherd thinks he knows why no one has sign Newton yet. He says there is no market for him as a backup.

“Everybody tells you they love Cam Newton but each time he’s available, nobody takes him,” he said on his show The Herd with Colin Cowherd. “He had no market as a free agent and now he has no market as a backup.”

Some NFL experts speculate that Newton may not be interested in being a backup in the NFL especially after he was a starter for many years, but according to NBC Sports, Newton is not opposed to being a backup.

But as Cowherd pointed out, when the opportunity came to sign him, no team to his.
