Our NFL Wild Card Weekend Picks
Andrew Olson
Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills: Higher than 215.5 passing yards
On Super Wild Card Weekend, the Bills feel like the ultimate wild card of this year’s postseason. Allen has had an up-and-down year with some consistency issues. I expect he flips a switch for the playoffs and puts together a solid performance against a defense he has done well against in the past.
Tua Tagovailoa, Miami Dolphins: Lower than 231.5 passing yards
It pains me to pick against Tua, but I don’t see this game going well for him. In November, Tua threw for 193 yards against the Chiefs in Germany. Tua historically is not a great cold-weather quarterback. Round 2 between the Dolphins and Chiefs is Saturday night in Arrowhead and the forecast calls for freezing temps.
Tony Pollard, Dallas Cowboys: Higher than 14.5 rushing attempts
Pollard fantasy owners would say Dallas can get a bit pass-happy and the running back disappeared at times this season. The numbers suggest the Cowboys should try to attack Green Bay’s rushing defense. Pollard hasn’t been reliable in producing rushing yards, but the matchup sets up well for him to get his carries.

Joe Flacco, Cleveland Browns: Higher than 1.5 passing TDs
What a story Flacco has been for the Browns this year. He came in after spending most of the season at home and has guided the Browns to the No. 5 seed. Playing the Texans won’t be easy, but Flacco has had 2+ TDs passes in each of his last 3 games. I like him to have at least 2 more on Saturday afternoon.
Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs: Lower than 277.5 passing+rushing yards
Similar to Andrew’s pick above, I’m fading this game. It could be a historically cold NFL game, and that doesn’t bode well for either side. Look for both the Chiefs and Dolphins to run the ball early, trying to establish a ground presence while quickly burning up the clock. Mahomes’ receivers have been unreliable all season, so coming in at 277 or fewer passing+rushing yards is a strong possibility.
Jayden Reed, Green Bay Packers: Higher than 6.5 targets
Reed has quickly developed into Jordan Love’s go-to receiver. Reed is a dynamic playmaker, part of a talented, young Packers receiving corps. He should be healthier than he has been in a couple of weeks. With Dallas likely to put up plenty of points on Green Bay’s below-average defense, look for Love to throw early and often. At least 7 targets should be going to Reed on Sunday afternoon.
