Former Alabama RB Najee Harris reportedly has a new home.
After playing his first 4 seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Harris is heading to Los Angeles. He has reportedly inked a 1-year deal with the Chargers worth up to $9.25 million.
The Steelers selected Harris with the No. 24 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Ahead of the 2024 season, the club declined his 5th-year option, making him a free agent in 2025.
Harris’ NFL career got off to a strong start. As a rookie, he posted career-highs in carries (307), rushing yards (1,200), receptions (74) and receiving yards (467). He finished the 2021 season with 7 rushing touchdowns and 3 receiving scores, being selected to the Pro Bowl and named to the PFWA’s All-Rookie Team.
Over the next 3 seasons, Harris continued to be a 17-game starter for the Steelers and rushed for at least 1,000 yards every year. In 2023, he averaged a career-high 4.1 yards per carry and 8 rushing touchdowns. Last year, Harris rushed 263 times for 1,043 yards and 6 TDs.
Harris had a standout career at Alabama from 2017-20. He helped the Crimson Tide win national championships in 2017 and 2020. In his final season, Harris won the Doak Walker Award and was named First-team All-SEC and a Unanimous All-American.
