Former Florida and Arkansas QB Feleipe Franks has landed a new NFL opportunity with his old team.

The Atlanta Falcons announced Thursday morning that they have signed Franks as a tight end.

Franks played at Florida from 2016-19. He then transferred to Arkansas ahead of the 2020 season. In 2021, he joined the Falcons as an undrafted free agent.

In the NFL, Franks originally sought to play quarterback but was moved to tight end by the Falcons.

As a rookie, Franks saw limited playing time in 2021. He logged 14 offensive and 36 special teams snaps over 9 games. Franks finished his rookie season with 3 carries for 6 yards and 1 passing attempt that resulted in an interception.

In 2022, Franks saw more playing time. He played in 11 games, with 1 start, logging 54 offensive snaps and 91 on special teams. He had 1 carry for no yards and was targeted twice without a reception.

Franks missed the 2023 season, landing on injured reserve due to a calf injury. He then signed with the Carolina Panthers for the 2024 season. In Carolina, Franks played in all but 1 game, recording 45 offensive snaps and 305 on special teams. Franks’ snagged his first-career reception for 12 yards in a Week 18 game against the Falcons.

We’ll see what’s next for the former SEC QB as he tries to make it as a tight end and special teams player.
