Former Tennessee QB Joe Milton traded to new NFL team, per report

Joe Milton is reportedly on the move after 1 season in New England.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the former Tennessee quarterback is being traded to the Dallas Cowboys.

Milton is set to be the backup for Dak Prescott in Dallas. Per Schefter, Milton and a 7th-round pick will be traded to the Cowboys in exchange for a compensatory 5th-round pick. The Cowboys have been looking for a backup with Cooper Rush leaving Dallas for Baltimore.

Milton is entering Year 2 of his pro career. Last season, he appeared in 1 game. After Patriots starter Drake Maye played the first series against the Buffalo Bills, Milton entered the game. The former Vol was 22-of-29 passing for 241 yards with 1 touchdown.

A transfer from Michigan, Milton spent the 2021-23 seasons on Rocky Top. At Tennessee, Milton was 314-of-498 passing for 4,159 yards, 32 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. Filling in for Hendon Hooker, Milton was the MVP of the Orange Bowl when Tennessee defeated Clemson.
