Howie Roseman, Eagles GM and Florida alum, drops perfect response to UGA-heavy class

Howie Roseman might be a Florida Gator at his core, but the talent out of Athens has been too much for him to pass up recently as the GM of the Philadelphia Eagles.

Over the past two NFL Drafts, Roseman’s organization has drafted 5 Georgia defenders. That is somewhat understandable considering the nature of the Bulldog defense under Kirby Smart, but those type numbers have led a host of fans and media members to label the franchise the Philadelphia Bulldogs.

Roseman kept that trend going when he made a trade to acquire former Georgia RB D’Andre Swift from the Detroit Lions. With Miles Sanders leaving the Eagles in free agency and the Lions drafting an RB in the first round, Swift gets a shot at a fresh start with the Eagles.

During Saturday’s coverage of the draft, Roseman was interviewed by ESPN’s Rece Davis, and Roseman acknowledged his moves will have him in hot water in Gainesville:

“I’m sure I’m out of the Florida Alumni Association as we speak,” Roseman admitted to a chuckling Davis.

To his credit, Roseman also addressed the recent UGA trend in his phone call to Bulldog defender Nolan Smith. He told Smith taking so many Georgia players “hurts my soul” in a fun back-and-forth with Smith on draft night.

Regardless of the trend, it’s hard to have an issue with the results for the Eagles under Roseman. Philadelphia advanced to the Super Bowl this past season before losing to the Kansas City Chiefs and recently made Jalen Hurts the highest-paid player in the history of the NFL.
