Ja’Marr Chase’s Cincinnati Bengals career hasn’t gotten off to the best start.

Chase, who opted out of the 2020 season at LSU, set records with the Tigers during his spectacular 2019 campaign. NFL expectations are very high for Chase teaming up with his former college quarterback, Joe Burrow. Burrow, however, didn’t play in Friday night’s game. Ryan Fitzpatrick started in Burrow’s place.

Chase’s Friday night struggles against the Washington Football Team were apparent. He dropped all 3 passes thrown his direction. All 3 came on third down and would have likely resulted in a first down. He looked rusty, but remember, he hasn’t played many games since January 2020.

When asked about Chase’s struggles, Bengals coach Zac Taylor said the team is going to continue to work with him.

“We just gotta continue to work on it every single day. It’s key that our receivers do a great job focusing, catching the ball,” Taylor said after the game, via ESPN’s Ben Baby. “He’s getting better every day at a lot of the other details that maybe go unnoticed. So we’ll just keep looking for improvement there.”

Sure, it’s a preseason game, but some fans were left concerned about Chase.
