Kings of Leon gets crushed for concert before NFL Draft

With the 2021 NFL Draft being held in Cleveland, there was bound to be some musical element to the evening.

With fans gathered on the shore of Lake Erie just minutes from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame awaiting Trevor Lawrence’s official selection to the Jacksonville Jaguars—following last year’s draft held virtually due to COVID-19—it was Grammy-award-winning band Kings of Leon taking the stage to perform. The band might be best known for their song “Use Somebody”, released nearly 11 years ago.

And there was plenty of social media reaction from across Twitter as an NFL Draft scheduled to begin around 8 pm ET on Thursday truly get underway about 25 minutes after the hour due to the band’s performance—and with the Jaguars using a good portion of their allotted time before putting their selection for Lawrence in and having it announced by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.

While Kings of Leon certainly fits the rock and roll genre, their presence at the draft led to some humorous and rather biting tweets. Here’s a sampling of some of them:
