Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford is counting on the Rams’ offense to get better in 2022.
Stafford, who is entering his second season with the Rams, feels more comfortable in the offense compared to last offseason. Stafford has limited his throwing in the offseason to preserve his elbow, which has allowed him to study the team’s offense more (Via ProFootballTalk).
“At this point in the year last season, I think to myself what I knew about this team and this offense, and it’s just so small in comparison to what I know and understand now,” Stafford said. “So that gives me great comfort in the fact that we can go above and beyond what we did last year.”
Coming off a Super Bowl win, Stafford is looking to defend his team’s championship in 2022. In 2021, Stafford threw for 41 touchdowns, 17 interceptions, and 4,886 passing yards. Stafford had an impressive first season in head coach Sean McVay’s offense.
The Rams lost a few offensive weapons for Stafford, but he retains Cooper Kupp, who led the NFL in most receiving categories in 2021. The Rams added wide receiver Allen Robinson to the mix in the offseason.
Stafford was drafted by the Detroit Lions out of the University of Georgia in 2009. He played 12 seasons for the Lions until he was traded to the Rams in January 2021. Stafford hopes to have continued success in the Rams’ offense in his second season with the team.
