Mike Golic announced the Philadelphia Eagles’ second-round draft pick Friday night, and he made an embarrassing mistake in the process.
Golic, the former Eagles lineman and former popular ESPN radio host, said that the Eagles traded up to take “DeVonta Davis” in the first round … except that he meant DeVonta Smith.
Sure, it’s easy to miss a name when the player isn’t that popular, but to miss on the Heisman Trophy winner is quite embarrassing.
The good news for the Eagles (and Alabama) is that Landon Dickerson was Philadelphia’s pick at No. 37 overall. So, former Crimson Tide teammates Dickerson, Smith and Jalen Hurts will be reunited in Philadelphia.
@MikeGolic what position does Devonte Davis play? 😂 #NFLDraft2021

@MikeGolic , sir, I believe it’s DeVonta Smith, not DeVonta Davis. #philly #happyhour

Mike Golic was just an utter disaster announcing the latest Eagles pick. Another person worried more about the bells/whistles than nuts/bolts. Refers to DeVonta Smith as Devante Davis, then announces specifics on the actual pick (Landon Dickerson) out of order. #NFLDraft2021 🤡
