The Cincinnati Bengals will not face any punishment from the NFL over Joe Burrow’s injury report status ahead of his season-ending wrist injury.

In the Bengals’ Week 11 game against the Baltimore Ravens, Burrow suffered a season-ending wrist injury. Fans on social media started to question whether Burrow played in the game with a prior injury that was made worse. Burrow was not listed on the injury report ahead of the game.

Amazon’s Thursday night broadcast showed Burrow arriving at the stadium appearing to sport a brace or wrap on the wrist he would later injure. The video had also been posted by the Bengals on social media, but deleted after Burrow was hurt.

After the game, Burrow said the wrist wrap was a compression sleeve he wears when flying. The NFL is on board with that explanation. Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports reports that the league has concluded the Bengals were not in violation of the injury report policy.

Per Jones, the NFL reviewed Bengals medical records and studied footage of the team’s practice to conclude the injury policy was not violated. A violation could have led to fines and/or loss of draft picks, per the report. In November, Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk wrote that the Bengals could have been on the hook for some expensive lawsuits from bettors had the franchise been found to publish a fraudulent injury report.
