Shedeur Sanders was the most talked-about player during the 2025 NFL Draft, but not for the reasons he hoped.

Sanders was widely ranked and projected as a prospect to be drafted in Round 1. The fact that he did not hear his name called in the first 32 picks was a surprise. When Sanders remained available after Rounds 2 and 3, football fans and media members were stunned.

The worst part of Sanders’ draft slide did not involve an NFL team. Sanders received a prank call from people pretending to be with the New Orleans Saints and leading him to believe he would be the club’s next pick, which was not the case.

Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the NFL is looking into how Sanders’ private number got out, leading to the prank call.

After a difficult Thursday and Friday, Sanders finally got the real call on Saturday. The Cleveland Browns selected Sanders in Round 5. Sanders had a lively celebration with family and posted on social media.

While the pick came much later than expected, Sanders is now an NFL quarterback. Football fans everywhere will be interested to see how things play out for the former Colorado quarterback.
