Shedeur Sanders faces an uncertain pro future, but he received a notable endorsement ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft.
The College GameDay crew is part of ESPN’s coverage for Round 1 in Green Bay. Former Alabama coach Nick Saban called himself a fan of Sanders and praised the former Colorado QB’s accuracy when he does not have to throw on the run.
“I’m a Shedeur fan, because I think he played in a little different style in college because of the players around him — he had to scramble more,” Saban said Thursday. “But when he can drop, set his feet and throw on time, he’s the most accurate guy from the quarterback position as anyone.”
Sanders’ draft stock has been falling in the lead-up to Round 1, but Saban is not the only former NFL coach to speak highly of the Colorado quarterback. Matt Rhule told ESPN’s Pete Thamel on Wednesday that if he were in the New York Giants’ position, he would take Sanders at No. 3 overall.
In the latest betting odds, however, Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart has moved ahead of Sanders as the draft’s likely QB2. Miami QB Cam Ward is expected to be selected No. 1 overall.
We’ll see how it all plays out. Round 1 begins at 8 p.m. ET.
