Published:
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow will be reunited with one of his favorite targets from LSU as Ja’Marr Chase was taken with the 5th overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft.
Burrow and Chase formed a lethal combination in 2019 as the Tigers raced to a perfect season and the College Football Playoff National Championship. Chase hauled in 84 catches for 1,780 yards and 20 touchdowns, leading the country in both categories. While he opted out of the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, his body of work was enough for him to land in the top 5.
With Cincinnati’s selection, it made a little bit of history as well:

While the Bengals’ offensive line struggled as Burrow was lost to a torn ACL and MCL in Week 11, they decided to add a weapon to their offense and bring in a name Burrow is very familiar with.
Burrow’s reaction to the selection on Twitter was brief:

That, of course, was the 52-yard touchdown Burrow threw to Chase in the 1st quarter of the 2020 CFP National Championship against Clemson. We’ll see what other highlights the duo will make in the NFL.
