Mac Jones is having an impressive rookie season with the New England Patriots, and it seems NFL commentators are almost falling over themselves to heap praise onto the former Alabama quarterback.
The latest bit of adulation came Friday on ESPN’s ‘Get Up’ morning show when former Steeler defensive back Ryan Clark had some eye-opening comments on Jones.
"Mac Jones has some stuff in him, some intangibles, that I think are maybe the greatest we've EVER seen from a quarterback. … From neck up, I don't know if we've ever seen a rookie that is better."

“You have a quarterback who’s dang-near not allowing the football to hit the ground,” Clark began. “It looks like when you’re playing flag football and the coach’s son is the quarterback.
“Mac Jones is playing at an extremely high level and he’s doing everything that you need to do to win football games. … Mac Jones has some stuff in him, some intangibles that I think are maybe the greatest we’ve ever seen from a quarterback. Now, it doesn’t mean he has the strongest arm, it doesn’t mean that he’s the fastest, but from (the) neck up, I don’t know if we’ve ever seen a rookie that is better. It’s showing every day that he takes snaps on the field.”
Jones has 2,540 passing yards and 14 touchdowns through his first 11 starts. He’s completing 70.2% of his passes and averaging 7.3 yards per attempt, with 8 interceptions. The former 1st-round pick leads all rookie quarterbacks in touchdown passes and passing yards.
The Patriots beat the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday night, 25-0, to improve to 7-4 on the season. Jones went 22-for-26 passing for 207 yards with a score and a pick.
