Social reaction pouring in on Nickelodeon’s broadcast of NFC Wild Card Game

The Chicago Bears and New Orleans Saints are doing battle in the NFC Wild Card Game on Sunday. Jim Nantz is calling the game with Tony Romo—albeit with Nantz from New Orleans and Romo from home due to COVID protocol—but, in an NFL first, the game is being simulcast on Nickelodeon. Noah Eagle, son of longtime CBS announcer Ian Eagle, is working the game alongside Nick stars Gabrielle Neveah Green and Lex Lumpkin, along with CBS/NFL Network analyst Nate Burleson.
The Nick simulcast is getting plenty of attention, not just from parents and their children, but sports fans curious to see how the network will cover its first NFL game. As you’d expect, it featured plenty of slime, various Nick characters, specialized kid-friendly graphics, and, unfortunately, a brief not-so-kid-friendly moment.
Hall of Fame quarterback Kurt Warner posted a heartwarming tweet of his special-needs adult son, Zack, watching the game along with him.
My son loves @Nickelodeon but has never sat and watched a football game with me UNTIL today… I appreciate Nick introducing our kids to the game in a fun & entertaining way!! pic.twitter.com/Ofru2DfZbq

Of course, there’s been plenty of other social media reactions from all corners of Twitter. Here’s just a sample:
Imagine if the Falcons were good and we got to see Alex Mack in the Nickelodeon game

If the Nickelodeon halftime show could somehow include a Next Gen Stats segment that tells my son to go check his math homework that would be great.

Huge miss by Nickelodeon to not run back Legends of the Hidden Temple at half time. HUGE miss.

I have two girls under the age of 9 watching an @NLF playoff game with me because they want to see slime. Thanks @Nickelodeon!

I'm diggin the broadcast on @Nickelodeon right now. The kids table is always more interesting and fun than the "grown up" table at Thanksgiving. Getting first downs are like "your daily assignments, the red zone is like your test"
Can't wait for the slime zone, @DemetriRavanos— Jeff Rickard (@RickardonSports) January 10, 2021
The yellow line isn’t official. But the Nickelodeon slime line? I’d bet my life on it

If this Nickelodeon broadcast is as popular as Twitter is making it seem, the logical next step is for CBS to put some SEC games on there next year.
Slime Saban.

Dig the wild card game on Nickelodeon but I would dig it much more if Kenan and Kel were doing play by play and Amanda Bynes on the sidelines. #CHIvsNO
