Tony Romo is widely thought of as one of the top football broadcasters. A year ago, ESPN and CBS got into an expensive bidding war to have Romo in the booth.
Romo is still with CBS, the broadcaster of this year’s Super Bowl. With football fans everywhere, even the most casual of NFL fans, watching The Big Game, Romo is the talk of social media.
As you can see, there are some Jay Gruden-types out there who think Romo is a tad overrated, but overall, he’s quite popular with fans. Some fans can’t resist ribbing him for not making it to the Super Bowl during his Dallas Cowboys career.
Here’s what people are saying on Twitter:
@tonyromo is way better that @TroyAikman at announcing.

To be fair I’d rather listen to Tony Romo than any of the other commentators. https://t.co/O16jHyvBBn

I can’t enjoy this game while @tonyromo predicting everything… He’s literally ruined the game on the field and off ?

Tony Romo literally just made himself giggle with a corny joke while broadcasting the Super Bowl.
He’s like a cool guy you’d have a great chat with at an airport bar. Smart / successful, but doesn’t take himself too seriously.

Sometimes I think Tony Romo is too smart. He takes away all the mystery of football…which is, you know, I see what they did there… he just tells us.
